//VE Day marked the end of World War Two in Europe. Huge crowds took to the streets on 8 May 1945 to sing, dance and rejoice after nearly six years of war.

To mark the 80th anniversary, four days of commemorative events have been planned across the UK, from 5 to 8 May. //

Love it - or loathe it?   I like tradition - and this is something worth remebering.

I love it, there is an event local to me I am hoping to attend

Never that fussed about national celebrations/commemorations. But no doubt will show up for a while if the area does something for social cohesion reasons.

there's an awful lot of regular programming on the BBC going in the bin, to accommodate the VE-Day celebrations - how long before there's a thread on here about that...... 🤣🤣🤣

I'm sure the BBC will manage to have a presenter or reporter who will sully their coverage.

On the plus side, I'm looking forward to it .

it would be if we still had a country to be proud of/worth fighting for

Old workmate was born on VE Day - her name is VEDA.
