Situations change. A desire to reduce war is all very well, but there are times when getting involved is the sensible option. His supporters ought to realise that. 

Ideally he might take into consideration the view of the Iranian public but that may be difficult to obtain, and in any case may not be the lowest risk option for the world. Best destroy the nub of the problem with a single clean strike and then stay out unless attacked.
