You're making a lot of assumptions.  This from the exiled opposition leader:

“The only viable solution remains the overthrow of this regime by the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance,” she added, while repeatedly stressing that her movement is the best option to lead the change.

“The issue of the day in Iran — and the war that has been waged over it — is the nuclear question,” she said. “Yet the issue of Iran in its entirety goes far beyond this regime’s nuclear program. At its core, the conflict is between the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance on one side, and religious tyranny on the other.”

same question to you then youngmafbog. what comes after? when iranians flee the chaos in droves will you make an exception in your hostility toward refugees?

He does that all the time Naomi, as well as twists things to suit his warped way of thinking and agenda.  Not worth the time debating becasue he never listens to anyone.  Lives in a bubble and thats it.

Why are you so sure they'll 'flee the chaos in droves'?   What if they welcome change and are prepared to stay and fight for their country and for their liberty?

It becasue he has stated many times that he wouldnt fight for his country (just exect other to die for him whilst he sits on AB moaning they are war criminals probably based on recent form) and so he would probably run away too.

Luckily many are not like that and Persians in my experieice are really decent folk (apart from the Mad Mullah types obviously) they are also very Nationalistic and if there was a chance of overthrowing the despical terrorist regime a good many well may go back to help out.

Sadly the ones running away will be the Islamic nutters as the decent ones will be after then.  No doubt that the despicable Kneeler will welcome them as future Labour voters.

I'm in a bit of a quandry with this. On the one hand I'd like to liberate the sensible western leaning majority of Iran but on the other I take untitled's point that history has shown we'll end up with another middle eastern country perpetually at war with itself. Basically anywhere there are muslims there is aggravation. We'd just hang around for a year or two and then abandon it leaving a mess like Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. I don't know the answer. In the old days we'd just partition the country some how, maybe that's worth a look.

Not sure anyone is thinking of 'going in' TTT.  I suspect boots on the ground wont happen and the hope is there will be a rising of those that have been oppressed (and murdered) by this tyranical bunch of terrorists.

yes hopefully the sensible majority will overthrow the mad mullah's

Reading between the lines I strongly think thats Trumps hope.  Not so sure of Netanyahu  though, but then there is more at stake for him, Israel wold be targetted the minute the Mad Mullahs got Nukes.

Wouldnt be surprsed it the nutters dropped a dirty Nuke even now, they must have enough enriched material for one of those.

"Why are you so sure they'll 'flee the chaos in droves'?"

because of what happened in libya, iraq, and syria. when a power vacuum appears, it invites competition to fill it - and that struggle will typically be won with force. iran has considerable stickpiles of weaponry including WMD - the people who land up controlling those will fight it out for control if there is no central authority.

libya as an analogous example still has no government after we bombed the last one (a very nasty one) out of existence ten years ago. as bad as gaddafi was, libya is now worse off and so is everyone else.

contrary to what many seem to believe, very few iranians welcome the return of a monarchy while israel and america would obviously prefer it because the brutal pahlavi dynasty are american puppets.

you are free to disagree of course but i find it utterly pathetic that so many people of mediocre or lower intelligence see fit to call me a pro-terrorist or pro-islamist because i hold to the above view!!

Who do you consider to be of mediocre or lower intelligence?  Those who tell you you're wrong?  Perish the thought but they may - just may - be rather brighter than you give them credit for.  You need to climb off your high horse.  You have a lot of learning still to do - and it shows.

untitled: "contrary to what many seem to believe, very few iranians welcome the return of a monarchy" - that's not the only choice. I think a majority of Iranians would hope something approaching a proper democracy would emerge in place of the mad mullahs.

History

Everyone can recognize history when it happens. Everyone can recognize history after is has happened; but only the wise man knows at the moment what is vital and permanent, what is lasting and memorable.

"Who do you consider to be of mediocre or lower intelligence?"

people who call me a terrorist or a pro-islamist in preference to engaging with what i am saying.

i am asking a serious question naomi as i have every right to. if you find my contributions objectionable then feel free to pass on my threads.

here is my question: given that the west has declared its intention to topple the iranian regime by force and given that there is no plan to replace it, does another refugee crisis not seem likely to result from this course of action?

or people within the iranian army who are secualr in thought have a coup d'état no need for a civil war, let's hope that happens..

Untitled, I find your insults towards other members objectionable.

Why do you assume there's no plan to replace the current regime?  I've given you a link that says there is.

naomi24, i agree totally, the mullahs are finished, the proverbial horse has bolted, no going back now...freedom for iranians.

do you naomi? because you seemed fine with people calling me a terrorist sympathiser or pro islamist or communist. these are clearly intended and received as insults, yet you're pretty quiet about those and pipe up only when i hit back. you're also very relaxed about insults toward other ABers you don't care for... so forgive me if i don't place much value on your objections
