israel continues to attack iran with the support of the US government... the american president has called for "unconditional surrender"...

given that israel and the US cannot invade iran what exactly is the plan? are they just going to bomb it until a pro-Israel regime takes over?

what happens if Iran falls into civil war and becomes a failed state as a result of this? what happens if we get another country like iraq or afghanistan or libya with 90 million people in it?

the refugee problem will get worse, more terrorism, more instability. why then is the UK government supporting this?

we've been here before, in the 1950s. The Iranians elected a president democratically. The CIA and MI6 combined to foment a rebellion that overthrew democracy and imposed the Shah. On that occasion it was because the Iranians wanted to take control of their own oil.

we've been here as recently as 2003. it's exactly the same rationale as the iraq war--"saddam has WMD, he has to go, we can just install a democracy". a few years later, iraq was a failed state, ISIS, and millions of Iraqis fleeing the country to Europe.

it will happen again.

The evil regime is a bit short on friends. Putin won't help & Xi doesn't want to get involved so it's curtains for them - in fact it's already happened.

There is enormous support for a sectarian government, whether they would accept the present Shah as an interim leader I don't know, but regime change will happen.

My guess is the end game consists of nuclear facilities totally destroyed, no evidence of the old regime still skulking around Iran, and the popular opinion of the people creating a government they approve of. Whether that involves the Shah or not, in any capacity, we'll have to see.

The obvious difference between now and 2003 is that the Iranian people will decide what they want for themselves.

As for the 50s, I'm sure lessons have be learnt given the disaster that resulted. That was the best part of a century ago.

Question Author

so the islamic republic goes.... then what?

Ask the Iranians. A move back towards the old days is likely. But the actual flavour of government will be up to them.

Question Author

and how do you imagine that choice being decided? will they all get together and have a vote?

They'll all have a shout.  Opinions will be expressed.  Rallies & demos held.  Popular opinion will be known & supported.

Question Author

gosh! that simple. you are extremely naive if you think that old geezer.

Question Author

and what by the way if popular opinion does not much appreciated getting bombed by israel and settles on getting nukes to deter future attacks? what then?

I think for once, women will have a large say it what happens next.

Not naivety, just common sense.  Sadly lacking in today's world.

And what is the EndGame of Untitled's question?

Come on chaps, support the terrorists!

The compete destruction of the Natanz and Fordow nuclear bomb making facilities is the one and only reason for this operation. When they are gone it is over. Endgame. The Persians/Iranians will decide what happens after. Maybe the people of Gaza will move there. Many came from there.

Question Author

if that's true togo then why is netanyahu calling for regime change in iran?

Israel has atomic weapons.

Iran wants atomic weapons.

Israel bombs Iran, not wanting Iran to have what Israel has.

Trump sends a social media message to Iran demanding "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!" and suggests that the population of Tehran (15 million people) should evacuate.

Russia and China are friends of Iran. Iran sent a hypersonic missile to Israel yesterday, similar to Russia sending one to Ukraine.

What's the "endgame"?  In Avengers Endgame, fixing it all involved time travel.  We can hope for that.  Otherwise, it's chaos as per usual ...

At least Trump has ordered the Israelis not to send the head bearded weirdo(Khameini)up to his 72 virgins, but metinks the old bastrad is living on borrowed time.(Khameini, not Trump...but im not sure about either).

Netanyahu has not directly insisted on regime change in Iran but does opine that the recent action may facilitate it.

//Since Israel began its concerted attack on Iran on Friday, calls for regime change in Iran have grown louder – from hawks in the United States Congress to Israeli officials and some Iranian activists abroad. They argue that the Islamic Republic is significantly weakened, and that now is the time to capitalize on domestic unrest and public discontent to bring about the overthrow of its ruling clerical establishment, with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at its head.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News on Sunday that Israel’s operation “could certainly” result in regime change, as the government in Iran is “very weak.” He claimed that “80% of the people would throw these theological thugs out.”
“They shoot women because their hair is uncovered. They shoot students. They just suck the oxygen out from these brave and gifted people, the Iranian people,” Netanyahu said. “The decision to act, to rise up this time, is the decision of the Iranian people.”
A local Iranian journalist told CNN that while some believe the conflict could be an opportunity for a potential push for regime change, they want to build their future themselves.//
CNN World news.

As I was saying   ...  The endgame is no nuclear bomb for the fanatic nutters and “The decision to act, to rise up this time, is the decision of the Iranian people.”

Question Author

if the objective is solely to take out nuclear facilities and nothing else then why are they bombing police headquarters and the IRGC intelligence directorate? why bomb state tv? none of those are part of the nuclear programme.

netanyahu clearly does want regime change in iran. it's disingenuous to claim that he doesn't.
