As if its never happened before. We aren't stupid we know how to keep cool. Also why is it whenever there is some unusual weather the bbc cant resist blaming climate change?

Every year people die and many are in hospital directly due to the hot weather.

Every year idiots leave their dogs in hot cars.

Some people do need telling the obvious

makes me laugh the hysterics we get with weather these days.

An elderly friend who lives in sheltered housing rang me yesterday to say she'd found two 3 litre bottles of water on her doorstep - as had all the other residents - and none of them could figure out where it came from or why.  I suggested it had been left by the council key workers who come along every day to make sure all the residents are ok - and that it was to ensure they all keep hydrated in the heat.  Good advice may be surplus to requirements for most but for some it helps and certainly does no harm - so don't knock it.

Warm water, no ice bucket ?!?!

A small block of flats, OG.  Doors in a hallway so out of the sun.

"...and that it was to ensure they all keep hydrated in the heat. "

Had their water been cut off, naomi?

They had a burst pipe that morning.

The problem is Dave that people are stupid.

"They had a burst pipe that morning."

Thanks, naomi. Then that's very sensible (so long as they know it is there).

You're right, bednobs.  Let's hope no one leaves their dogs - or their children - in cars in this weather.  Despite all the warnings we still hear horror stories.

Living in Spain, Ive always wore soaking wet t-shirts during a heatwave, and continue to do.

love a developing story. 🙂

How much would it cost to employ a couple of Punkah wallas?

Do you own a punkah, sandyRoe?

Surely a good wallah would have his own punkah, Naomi. Not up to the customer to provide the tools of the trade. 😉

Must admit I hate hot weather (25+). Keep thinking about getting an air conditioner for the bedroom. Probably a portable but built-in would be better.

Good point Ken.  I didn't think of an all inclusive service.  😂

Punka Wallah operates a large fan via a system of pulleys Bhitsi water carrier using a large goatskin supplies workers with water.

I could cobble a couple together.  Two of the smaller carpets , some curtain rails, and a few bits of string.
