Oh dear. The old guard aren't happy that Starmer & Reeves PLC are going further and farther than George Osborne with Austerity 2.
I wonder how many of those who rely on welfare are now regretting their election choices?

Not quite. The claim was that they would be pushed into relative poverty. That is, they won’t have as much money as some other people.
Everybody is in relative poverty. Apart from, perhaps Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk and I expect one of them is poverty stricken relative to the other.
The notion that this country has experienced austerity in recent years or that it will do so as a result of this latest tinkering around the edges is laughable. The probable total of central government expenditure for this current financial year will almost certainly top £1,300bn. Local government will probably spend a further 10%, making £1,430bn. This is over £21,000 for every man, woman and child in the country. It also means that, leaving aside borrowing, government and local authorities will have taken something in the region of £25,000 from every adult in the country.
Just how much more is to be taken and spent by the government? These sums are ludicrous and if “austerity” and “poverty” are the results then something is seriously amiss.
