in my opinion it was a bad idea... but i doubt that you need to feel at risk over there in the USA

i think it's a bad idea because it is likely to drop iran into chaos and create another failed state in the region. someone told me the other day that this is unlikely because iran is "civilised" and if this kind of naivety and historical illiteracy is representative then disaster looms

i do not want an equivalent of ISIS to show up in iran

i do not want tens of millions of iranians to become refugees because their country has been destroyed by the west

i do not want energy prices to go through the roof again

the people who need to worry about repercussions are not americans in america. i think you will be fine. the people who need to worry are iran's neighbours and europe... that's where the refugees will go and where the inevitable terrorism overspill will hit

europe's leaders are very foolish to support this

'Some US generals have long itched for a chance to strike Iran and the hawks are in the ascendant inside the situation room. One influential voice is the chief of US Central Command, General Michael “Gorilla” Kurilla. On June 10, before Israel began its strikes, he posted: “It is estimated that current stockpiles and the available centrifuges … are sufficient to produce [Iran’s] first 25kg of weapons-grade material in roughly one week, and enough for up to ten nuclear weapons in three weeks.”'

The Times, this morning

If the regime had a nuke, there would certainly never be any peace in the region - or beyond.  The neighbouring states may huff & puff a bit, but deep down will be relieved that Iran's nuclear ambitions have been neutralized.

A bad idea, because Iran can do nothing but retaliate, or look weak and out of control.

Escalation is the order, when you have giant egos in place, who want their own way, even if that leads to more attacks and dearth.

Fairly inevitable if the situation was ever going to get sorted. No point asking about good or bad.

What's Iran authorities going to do anyway ? Awaking sleepers will cause minimal damage to mainland USA. Attacking military bases would bring massive US retaliation. And giving away weapons grade nuclear materials to terorists would likely just make the terrorists fatally ill before they got it anywhere they could use it.

Iranian authorities have a choice. Decide to give it all up and flee to Russia (or wherever) or stick around and await their meeting with  their promised 72 virgins.

Bit of both good and bad, imho. Preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons is obviously a good thing. On the flip side, Iran will 'have' to retaliate in some way or another.

How bad that is, we'll just have to wait and see.

As an aside; bang goes that Nobel peace prize.

When the dust has finally settled there'll be more peace in the region than there's been for a long time.  So maybe it's just a postponement.

Hopefully not radioactive dust, Old Geezer

What, this Nobel Peace Prize? 🙄

BBC News - Pakistan to nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize - 21 June 2025

"Trump has often suggested he should receive the Nobel Peace Prize."

Whichever peace prize he self-nominates.

he should try and win a Darwin Award.

Well, Obama got one for simply being Obama.

Pakistan actually nominated him for the Taking The Peace Prize.

don't worry cindy they can't do much and Trump has done us all a favour.

A bad idea, because Iran can do nothing but retaliate, or look weak and out of control. Andy Hughes thats exactly how Europe looks weak you cannot negotiate with terrorists Eurpoe is in the front line for reprisals what do you suggest we all sit around singing come by yah.
